On Saturday 22nd February 2014 the AgriChatUK team were invited down to the Radio 1 studios in London as part of #AccessAllAreas month, to record their own 1 hour radio show. Over 1,000 entries were received from interested groups, with only 34 groups eventually being picked for the experience.
The 7 strong AgriChatUK team, were guided through the show with the help of producer Aled Haydn Jones, who used to work on the Chris Moyles Show and who presents the Radio 1 Surgery on Sunday nights, and who has been the DJ at previous YFC AGMs.
The team spoke with a variety of farmers, Kate Beavan, Gareth Wyn Jones, Ally Hunter Blair and James Long on subjects ranging from technology in farming, to lambing, young farmers and welly wanging!
They also played ‘farming careers bingo’ and a game of ‘real or no real’ with the recently crowned Britain’s sexiest farmers, Rachel Churches and Graeme Moon.
The show was also interspersed with some classic tunes such as Primal Scream’s Country Girl and The Killers’ Mr Brightside, and with live tweeting activity from those within farming on Twitter on the #agrichatuk hashtag.
